December Forum Features Discussion on Sustainable Conventions, Events and Developing a Sustainable Event Culture in West Michigan
West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum will host a panel of local leaders who will discuss what meeting facilities in Grand Rapids are doing to support sustainable events and why sustainable conventions and events are important to the community at its monthly forum on Monday, December 10 from 12:00 to 1:30pm at the DeVos Place Convention Center.
Mayor Rosalynn Bliss will explain the importance of sustainability in making Grand Rapids a destination city and how many stakeholders are working together to foster a culture of sustainability. Michael Donnelly, General Manager of the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel will highlight various sustainability efforts from Grand Rapids hotels and event facilities, while and Adam London, Health Officer of the Kent County Health Department, will share stories of how stakeholder engagement helped to bring a conference to Grand Rapids. Nichole Steele, National Sales Manager of Experience Grand Rapids, will also explain how creating partnerships between organizations and the hospitality industry can promote sustainability in West Michigan. Experience Grand Rapids will also feature its “Bring it to Grand Rapids” program which offers support to businesses and organizations executing events and conventions in the city.
A tour of sustainability features at DeVos Place will follow the meeting from 1:30 to 2 pm.
Lunch is $15 for members and $20 for non-members if paid prior to the event here.
