West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum, Muskegon Area Sustainability Coalition and County of Muskegon will host a luncheon forum discussing how sustainability programs can be optimized for retail, hospitality and other businesses typically found in downtown and Main Street business districts.
On Tuesday, February 26 at the Annis Water Resources Institute two of West Michigan’s most successful and sustainable hospitality ventures will discuss how they have implemented recycling, composting and other practices in their businesses, with a particular focus on the challenges getting programs underway with limited infrastructure and local services.
Featured speakers are Kate Binder, Sustainability Specialist for Bell’s Brewery, and Carrie Veldman, Sustainability Coordinator for Barfly Ventures. Veldman will share how Barfly has established zero waste and other sustainability initiatives at locations throughout the Midwest. Binder will share the steps the brewery has implemented new recycling and waste diversion practices, including its work to establish composting service in a community with no commercially available compost operations.
The event is the second Sustainable Muskegon Forum of the 2018-2019 season, a program series supported in part by the Environmental Endowment Fund of the Community Foundation of Muskegon County.
Lunch is $10 if paid online, $15 at event.
Registration is now closed.
